Transurethral Resection of Bladder Tumor (TURBT)
Transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT) is a procedure used for accurate tumor typing, staging, grading and removal of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer.
Non-muscle invasive bladder cancer
During the procedure, your doctor inserts a thin, rigid cystoscope, called a resectoscope, into your bladder through your urethra. The doctor can look inside the bladder and use a wire loop at the end of the scope to take tumor samples and to remove any abnormal tissues or tumors.
After the Procedure
You will …
- Experience some bleeding and pain when you urinate.
- Need to delay usual activities for a week or two.
